Reid Health Foundation’s Adventure Course raises $35,000 to support student-athlete wellness across the region
July 29, 2025 -- Reid Health Foundation's first Adventure Course brought a fun-filled day and a shared commitment to health and wellness, all to benefit area student-athletes with high-quality care.
About 200
participants challenged 15 obstacles on the three-mile cross country course at
Indiana University East on June 21.

Thanks to the
generosity of participants and sponsors, the Adventure Course raised a net
$35,000 to benefit Reid Health's Athletic Training Program, which provides
dedicated athletic trainers to nine area high schools and IU East.
In 2024, athletic
trainers provided care for more than 2,400 student-athletes. With an ongoing
presence at practices and games, athletic trainers ensure students stay healthy
and safe. They're the first line of care for student-athletes, assisting with
preventive care, injury management, rehabilitation, and emergency response, all
while helping students learn in the process.
"The Adventure
Course is more than just a fun and challenging athletic event, it's a
celebration of community, wellness, and our ongoing commitment to supporting
student-athletes," said Jason Troutwine, Reid Health Vice President/Foundation
President.
"Our athletic
trainers play a vital role in keeping students healthy, safe, and active both
on and off the field."
Additionally,
all athletes have access to treatment and rehabilitation services.
The Athletic
Training Clinic provides options to help keep athletes and active-lifestyle
individuals performing at their best. Athletic trainers provide a variety of services
from preventing injuries to treating and rehabbing existing injuries or
post-surgery.
It's that same commitment
to athletic performance and sense of community that makes the Adventure Course
a good fit to benefit area athletes.
Participants ages
10 and over competed individually or in teams to put their strength, agility,
and endurance to the test as they climbed walls, crossed monkey bars, balanced
on beams, or went through mud and water to cross the finish line. After
defeating the course, participants received medals, race-day shirts, and post-race
snacks.
To complete the
day, the Fan Zone offered additional entertainment, including snacks, Kona Ice,
local vendors, and an inflatable course that was available for children under
10.
More than 50
volunteers, athletic trainers, and community members helped to ensure the
Adventure Course was a success.
"We're thankful
for the support of our volunteers and community partners, all who played key
roles in creating a safe, family-friendly experience," said Angela Cline,
Director of Reid Health Foundation.
"This event
shows what's possible when we gather to have fun but also with the purpose of supporting
wellness and others in our communities."
Partners that helped
to make the Adventure Course a success included IU East for use of the cross country
course, Richmond Community Schools for providing bleachers, and Richmond High
School's Advanced Construction Technology class for building two of the
obstacles on the course.
Also, Webster
Township Fire Department, Fountain City Fire/Rescue, Spirit Medical Transport,
Reid Health EMS, and the Reid Health EMS Training Institute ensured participant
safety throughout the event.
