Respiratory Therapist 'exemplifies what it means to be an Ambassador'

To understand what made Amanda Bischoff an ideal candidate to be chosen as Reid Health’s Ambassador for the month of May, you just need to hear from one colleague:
“We couldn’t do it without her, and we wouldn’t want to.”
Over and over, co-workers praised Bischoff, a Respiratory Therapist working in the Emergency Department at Reid Health Connersville, for her willingness to pitch in however she can, even if it means taking on tasks outside her usual role.
“When we need help, she’s there for anything. She never complains,” one person said. “When she works, we all feel confident if a trauma or critical patient were to come in, she has our backs. She helps organize and even likes to clean in the department.
“She wants the best for our staff and the patients. She makes the patients feel cared for and does a great job educating them.”
A Connersville native, Bischoff has spent seven of her nine years with Reid in the city. For two of those years, she also split time working in the Sleep Lab.
She and her husband, Gage, live on his family’s farm in the area, raising beef cattle and crops. They have three children – daughters Hunter and Remi and son Milo – who keep them busy outside of work.
“I love being able to bring great care to our small community. It’s nice to be able to help people we know and care about,” Bischoff said.
“I love the feeling when someone tells me they can breathe so much better after I have taken care of them. Not being able to breathe is scary. Turning someone around from that situation makes you really feel good about what you chose to do as your career.”
As much as her co-workers say they rely on her, Bischoff feels the same way toward them.
“Our Connersville team is very tight knit, and I feel as though I can go to any of our management over here with any issues and they will get me an answer if they don’t have one already,” she said.
“I honestly really enjoy my co-workers. We all work so well as a team and being able to get through some of those shifts together makes the hard days worth it.”
“Amanda exemplifies what it means to be an Ambassador through her professionalism, teamwork, and commitment to patient care,” a colleague said.
“She’s a dependable, positive force in the department and is highly deserving of this recognition."
