About Reid Health: Who we are
Our mission to lead our communities to well-being, one person at a time, is our guiding compass. Every day, we care for friends and neighbors during life’s most precious and critical moments, from welcoming new babies in our Family Birthing Center to supporting families through hospice care and providing urgent life-saving treatments in our Emergency Care units.
Our commitment extends beyond patient rooms and operating suites. We invest in neighborhoods, schools, and families, partner with educational institutions to prepare future healthcare professionals, and support programs that strengthen the region we serve.
As the area’s largest employer, we’re proud to be the cornerstone of our community since 1905, dedicated to excellence, innovation, and compassionate care at every stage of life.
Guided by our vision to foster healthier people, thriving communities, and be trusted partners in health, we uphold our core values of excellence, empathy, integrity, and accountability, ensuring every patient, visitor, and team member experiences compassionate, high-quality care.

Our mission in action: Mission Magazine
Reid Health’s history of developing healthy communities
Reid Health began as Reid Memorial Hospital in 1905, founded by Daniel G. Reid in memory of his wife and son. The hospital replaced the crowded St. Stephen’s Hospital and quickly became a trusted healthcare resource.
In 1992, we were renamed Reid Hospital and Health Care Services to reflect our growth beyond inpatient care. By 2008, we moved to a modern 100-acre campus, expanding services across East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio.
Today, with a 189-bed hospital and multiple clinics, we remains committed to leading our communities to well-being, one person at a time, delivering compassionate, high-quality care.

The Ginkgo and Reid Health: Growing together for more than a century
The ginkgo and Reid Health have grown together; symbols of hope, strength, and care. When Reid Memorial Hospital opened in 1905, a small ginkgo tree was planted by its doors. Like Reid, it began with promise and deepened its roots over time. For nearly 70 years, its golden leaves marked the seasons of healing and life. Today, the Ginkgo Boutique pays tribute to our history with sales from the shop funding many hospital projects that benefit patients.
