Whitewater Valley women artists exhibition celebrates creativity, strength, resilience
"Women, Healing & Home" is a special exhibition featuring artwork from 33 women artists from communities throughout the Whitewater Valley region. The collection reflects the diverse perspectives, talents, and stories of these artists.
Artists were invited to submit original artwork for consideration, with artists submitting a total of 117 works. A committee selected the artwork based on how each piece reflected themes of healing, hope, home, and beauty, as well as the strength and resilience of women and connection to community.
The opening of the exhibition coincided with a dedication event honoring the donors whose generosity made possible the Stephen Joseph Holmes & Elizabeth Handley Holmes Art Gallery and the Jan & Roxie Deer Mammography Suite at Reid Health Connersville.
Together, the gallery and mammography suite represent a shared investment in the health and well-being of the community.
The artwork highlights themes related to women's health, breast cancer and survivorship, along with artwork reflecting the places and communities they call home.
Through its rotating art exhibitions and permanent collection, the Holmes Gallery recognizes how art and healthcare can come together to create spaces that feel welcoming, comforting, and healing.
“Art can bring moments of reflection and comfort to viewers in a unique and beautiful way,” said Angela Cline, Director for Reid Health Foundation. “We appreciate the artists and donors who helped make this special space possible. We hope everyone who visits feels a sense of connection to the communities we serve.”
The exhibition represents a range of artistic styles and mediums from photography and painting to textile, wood, and stained glass.
