Nurse Residency Program
Reid Health in partnership with Vizient/AACN Nursing Residency Program™ offers continual education and training for new RNs transitioning from an accredited degree program to clinical practice.
Discover your nursing potential here
Our Nurse Residency Program prepares confident nurses for a successful, fulfilling career.
Reid Health joined the accredited Vizient and American Association of Colleges of Nursing (Vizient/AACN) Nurse Residency Program™ to ease the transition of graduate nurses and first-year nurses to clinical practice.
Here, you’ll find support from a cohort of peers and a team of clinical educators, preceptors, and mentors who want to see you thrive. With their help, you’ll receive ongoing education and training as a registered nurse (RN), building on the skills you developed in nursing school while continuing to grow and make a meaningful impact on the lives of our neighbors in East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio.
Develop professionally as an RN
Reid’s Nurse Residency Program offers an innovative curriculum to build confidence and enhance skills, along with a focus on wellness and well-being.
From the first day of orientation to your last seminar, you’ll be part of a supportive program centered on your development as a professional nurse.
Nurse residents are led by a team of skilled nurses. The program is a part of our Nursing Excellence Resilience and Development (NERD) department, which trains nurses, nursing assistants, and student nurses, to prepare them to provide high-quality patient care.
NERD leads several initiatives at Reid, including Nursing Orientation, a one-week boot camp to help you get acclimated with the facilities, your unit, and your role as you start your new career as an RN.
- Following Nursing Orientation, you’ll join your cohort to start the Nurse Residency Program.
- You’ll complete the residency by attending a monthly, four-hour seminar facilitated by Reid topic experts. This time is allotted for during your regularly scheduled hours.
- Hands-on activities are designed to actively engage you as your cohort covers current hospital policies, simulation exercises, and evidence-based research practice projects to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.
- You’ll have access to advanced technology exceeding other hospitals, giving you more time at bedside to provide patient care.
- And you’ll go over workplace topics on management, professional growth, and your well-being.
At Reid, you’ll find everything you need as a nurse resident to establish a successful future as an RN.
