Celebrating excellence in Advanced Practice Providers
We’re proud to honor important members of patient care teams through the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the Year Award, a recognition that shines a spotlight on the exceptional contributions of APPs across our health system.
This award honors individuals who combine outstanding medical expertise with compassion, leadership, and a commitment to our mission of leading our communities to well-being, one person at a time.
Who are Advanced Practice Providers?
APPs are vital members of our team, working alongside physicians and caregivers to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. They include:
- Nurse Practitioners (NPs)
- Physician Assistants (PAs)
- Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM)
- Audiologists (AuD)
- Podiatrists (DPM)
Every day, these providers expand access to care, build trusting relationships with patients, and play a key role in improving health outcomes in our region.
About the Advanced Practice Provider award
The APP of the Year Award is open to Reid-employed providers who:
- Demonstrates a combined commitment to clinical quality (in medical knowledge, discernment, and practice) along with genuine compassion, sensitivity, and a caring attitude in dealing with patients, patients’ families, and colleagues, and/or
- Is a leader and/or initiator of programs and services resulting in improvement in quality of health or life within Reid's service area, and/or
- Is consistently inspirational, encouraging, and helpful to colleagues, hospital staff, patients, and others in efforts to prevent or to alleviate illness or injury, and to enhance the quality of healthcare in Reid’s service area.
Nominations are submitted by team members and the community, reflecting the widespread impact these providers make. The award is presented each fall during our annual APP recognition event.

Meet the 2025 APP of the Year, Deanna Medley, NP
As a nocturnist hospitalist, Deanna Medley, NP, balances clinical excellence with empathy. Colleagues describe her as driven, respectful, and deeply committed to patient-centered care. She has championed improvements in programs like buprenorphine order sets for substance misuse, and she serves beyond the hospital walls through work with The Nest and Reid Health PACE.
