The Reid Health Foundation Adventure Course will return for its second year, offering a family-friendly obstacle challenge while supporting athletic training services for student-athletes across the region.

Reid Adventure Course begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 20, at the Indiana University East Cross Country Course, behind Hayes Hall at 2325 Chester Blvd. in Richmond.

This family-friendly, self-paced, three-mile obstacle course features more than 15 exciting challenges and is suitable for all fitness levels.

New this year, the course will feature a red, white, and blue theme, in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary celebration, along with a redesigned layout that includes both returning favorites and new obstacles for participants to tackle.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for Reid’s Athletic Training Program, which provides an athletic trainer at no cost to nine area high schools and IU East.

Jason Troutwine, Reid Health Vice President and Foundation President, said the Adventure Course is a fun, fitness-centered event that supports area student-athletes.

“The Adventure Course promotes wellness and healthier lifestyles while supporting the care of student-athletes across our region. It’s an opportunity to have fun while investing in programs that make a lasting difference,” Troutwine said.

Individuals, families, and teams can sign up at reidhealth.org/AdventureCourse. Everyone who registers before race day is eligible for door prizes. Those unable to participate but who would still like to support the Athletic Training program can make a donation through the registration link.

Registration is $25 for adults and $10 for children. Participants must be at least 10 years old, and children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult on the course.

On the morning of the event, registration begins at 8 a.m. with the first participants taking to the course at 9 a.m. Participants can select start times during registration to help reduce congestion at the start line and throughout the course.

The Adventure Course is designed to test strength, agility, and endurance, with each obstacle offering a fun and unique experience. As part of the adventure, participants will get wet and muddy as they navigate through the course.

Run or walk to the finish line to collect the Adventure Course race shirt, finisher medals, and post-race snacks.

The Fan Zone will feature a variety of fun activities, snacks, local vendors, and sponsor partners. Younger family members can join in the fun. A separate area will be available for children ages 10 and under to enjoy. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

“Whether you’re participating or cheering someone on, there’s a place for everyone at the Adventure Course," said Angela Cline, Director for Reid Health Foundation.

“Grab a team, bring your family, and come be part of something that’s both fun and meaningful for our community.”

Reid’s Athletic Trainers play an important role in injury prevention and management, provide immediate care and emergency response, and offer rehab and recovery programs while educating student-athletes.
