Community Health
Reid Community Health Program
The goal of Reid Community Health is to Support, Educate, and Connect members of the community to care and resources.
Our Mission
Our mission is to create healthier, more informed communities through education, prevention, and support. We focus on empowering individuals and community organizations with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed decisions about their health and well-being. Whether at public events, leading workshops, or engaging with community members one-on-one, our goal is to meet people where they are and provide tools for long-term, sustainable health improvements.
Key Areas of Focus
Chronic Disease Prevention and Education
Chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and hypertension are some of the most significant health challenges in our community. We provide educational resources and prevention strategies to help individuals manage and reduce their risk of developing these conditions. Through workshops, informational materials, and community events, we help raise awareness and promote healthier lifestyles.

- Obesity, healthy eating, and physical fitness
Trauma and Injury Prevention
Preventing trauma and injury are key components of our program. We work to educate the community on safety measures, proper use of equipment, and injury prevention strategies, especially for vulnerable populations like children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Through partnerships with local organizations and public health efforts, we aim to reduce the incidence of preventable injuries in Wayne County.

Smoking and Vaping Prevention and Cessation
Smoking and vaping continue to pose serious health risks, especially among young people. Our program provides resources for smoking and vaping prevention, as well as cessation support for individuals who would like to quit. We offer educational workshops and will offer smoking cessation classes in early 2025 to help participants quit smoking or vaping, and we provide ongoing support to ensure they stay smoke-free.
- Catch My Breath education for fifth- to 10th-grade students
- Freedom from Smoking classes
- Overall education at public events
Learn Together Workshops
One of the key components of our program is our Learn Together workshops which are designed to bring the community together for hands-on learning and discussion. These workshops cover a variety of health topics related to our focus areas, including chronic disease management, injury prevention, and smoking/vaping cessation. By participating in these workshops, community members gain valuable knowledge and practical tips they can implement in their daily lives to improve their health.
All programming offered through Community Health is free for Wayne County organizations, patients, or staff members.
Accessible Healthcare
Our team is mobile, meaning we can go wherever we are needed in Wayne County. Whether it's a community center, local school, senior housing facility, or public event, we bring our resources and expertise directly to the people we serve.
