6. "Kneeling Boy"
Created by local sculptors Bill
& Jeanne Magaw, Kneeling
Boy has a unique history with
Reid Hospital. The bronze used to cast
the hand carved wooden mold was
extracted from melted donor recognition
plaques. Created in the early '70s, its
companion piece, Dreaming Boy, can be
seen at the base of the Grand Staircase.
The Magaws have been a part of the
art scene across America for many
years. With many works of art around the city of Richmond in
both private and public collections, they have also quietly built
an international reputation among museums and galleries.
Continue east to view the stained glass of the Golay Chapel. After this, works by the next two artists are found in the hallway east of the chapel.
