1 in 8 men is diagnosed with prostate cancer. In 2023 alone, about 288,300 men were diagnosed with the disease, and 34,700 died. Early detection leads to better results.
If you are a man between the ages of 55-69, you should be screened once a year. And men with incidents of prostate cancer in their families, as well as African American men, are at greater risk and might want to be screened earlier. Men younger than 50 who are concerned about their risk for prostate cancer will need a referral for a screening and should talk with their primary care provider.
