Palliative Care
Special Care for people with advanced illness
Palliative care is medical sub-specialty focused on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. Palliative care is appropriate at any age and at any stage of illness, and it can be provided along with all other medical treatments.
It does not replace your primary treatment; palliative care works together with the primary treatment you're receiving. The goal is to prevent and ease suffering and improve your quality of life.
Those with serious illnesses may face some hard choices. Our Palliative Care experts are available through a consultation with the attending physician to help with difficult decisions as they consider all available options, including treatment plans and end-of-life issues.
We help treat conditions such as:
- Kidney disease, kidney failure
- Congestive heart failure
- Liver disease
- Huntington's Disease
- Alzheimer's Disease
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
