Early heart attack care is February’s topic for Medical Monday, Thriving Thursday
Jan. 29, 2025 -- Wear red and join Reid Health to celebrate American Heart Month for February's Medical Monday and Thriving Thursday.
This month's topic, "Early Heart Attack Care," will be presented
by Reid Health Heart & Vascular Center's Manager, Sharol Plasterer, RN, as
well as Denise McDaniel, RN, Cardiac Cath Lab. They'll discuss heart health
facts, statistics for heart disease and heart attacks, and risk factors.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death
for adults in the U.S., but reducing this risk is possible by taking steps such
as regular physical activity, a nutritious diet, quitting smoking, stress
management, and annual physical exams.
Wearing red supports American Heart Month, which raises
awareness of coronary heart disease and promotes heart-healthy living. National
Wear Red Day on Feb.7 coordinates with the monthlong effort.
Medical Monday is at 1 p.m. on Feb. 10 at Central United
Methodist Church, 1425 E. Main St. in Richmond.
Thriving Thursday begins at 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 13 at the
Fayette County Senior Center, 477 N. Grand Ave. in Connersville.
Both events are free to attend. To register, call Sharrie
Harlin at (765) 983-3000, ext. 4676.
Medical Monday and Thriving Thursday are supported by Reid Health Community Benefit. Harlin started Medical Monday when she worked for the Minority Health Coalition and maintained it after joining Reid Health. The events have loyal followings, averaging 40 to 50 guests each month to learn about various health issues, community programs, and health screenings.
