Meet Reid Health’s new Chief of Staff
Matt Stearley, MD, began a two-year term as Reid Health's Chief of Staff on Jan. 1, 2025.
Jan. 16, 2025 -- Adult Cardiac Anesthesiologist Matt Stearley, MD, is the
new Chief of Staff at Reid Health, having begun a two-year term in the position
on Jan. 1. He succeeds Joshua French, MD, of General Surgeons.
Dr. Stearley has been with Reid for 15 years, previously
thriving in leadership roles such as Chief of Anesthesiology. For the past two
years, he's been the Vice Chief of Staff.
"It's an honor to serve in support of our incredible team
of physicians and staff," Dr. Stearley said. "I hope to continue building on our
foundation of excellence as we strive to fulfill our mission of leading our
communities to well-being, one person at a time."
Originally from Gosport, Indiana, Dr. Stearley earned his
medical degree at the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He
then completed his residency and an internship at Virginia Commonwealth
University in Richmond, Virginia, and a fellowship at the Penn State University
College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Sarah, live in Richmond with their two
children - Hannah, a sophomore at Richmond High School, and Samuel, a seventh grader
at the Hibberd Program Building. Sarah is the Chair of the Associate of Science
in Nursing program at Ivy Tech Community College in Richmond.
With Dr. Stearley moving into the Chief of Staff role, Neurologist
Brian Goggins, MD, became the new Vice Chief of Staff while Emergency Physician
Jamie Brummett, MD, is the new Medical Staff Secretary.
