Plumber’s smile, ‘can-do attitude’ make him Reid Health Ambassador for November
David Carrell, Engineering Services
Nov. 4, 2024 -- When David Carrell responds to a call for help, Reid Health staff know just what to expect from him.
"Dave is always smiling and in a great mood, ready to tackle the problems each day. He deals with the job none of us wants to do -- clogged toilets and sewer lines -- but never complains," one person said.
"He's the hardest working person I know," another co-worker
said. "He'll do anything to help anyone, even if it isn't his job. David does his
job with integrity and compassion for the safety of the patients and staff."
Reid Health's Ambassador for the month of November has been
a plumber with the organization's Engineering Services department for the past eight
years. He's an integral part of all things plumbing, including fire
suppression, new renovations, and kitchen equipment repairs and changes.
Before coming to Reid, Carrell helped build houses for 19
years and worked in maintenance at Miami University for a decade.
"I enjoy the team here at Reid and the values they have. I
work with a great group of guys and ladies," he said. "The bosses hear what we
say and let us do the job to the best of our abilities. I love helping fix
things so they run correctly."
Carrell says his parents instilled in him the work ethic
that he brings to the job each day. It's a quality that shines through in the
way he interacts with others.
"Dave is a wealth of knowledge and patience," one person
said. "He's a team player and is more than supportive of all co-workers. He
truly leads by example and gives 100 percent at all times. Our department is so
lucky to have Dave!"

When he's not working, the Liberty, Indiana, native enjoys
family get-togethers, "sitting around a fire and talking about whatever comes
up." He also likes to watch his grandkids play sports.
"Dave is always available and is one of the first calls
when things go bad," a co-worker said. "Recently, he spent three days working
to get rooms open after a blockage in a sewer line. This wasn't the first and
it probably won't be the last time Dave gets the call to work above and beyond.
In all cases, he's there with a smile doing his part to keep Reid running
smoothly.
"Each day, Dave brings a can-do attitude to work and solves
every problem."
