Reid Health earns 12 specialty care honors from Healthgrades
Oct. 22, 2024 -- Reid Health has earned several accolades for clinical excellence in
specialty care from Healthgrades, the No. 1 site Americans use
when searching for a doctor or hospital.
Among the distinctions was an award for
America's 100 Best Hospitals for Pulmonary Care, the second straight year Reid gained
the honor that goes to the top 5% in the nation for pulmonary services.
Healthgrades also recognized Reid with Excellence
Awards for stroke care (third year in a row) and critical care (second),
putting Reid in the top 10% across the country for those treatments.
Reid also was rated five stars for seven
services, including treatment of:
- Heart attack
- Heart failure -- third year in a row
- Stroke -- seventh year in a row
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) -- second year in a row
- Pneumonia -- third year in a row
- Gastrointestinal bleed -- second year in a row
- Sepsis -- fourth year in a row
In addition to these national
recognitions, Reid was ranked No. 2 in Indiana for both critical care and
pulmonary care.
"Each of these awards is a reflection
of our commitment to delivering exceptional care year after year to those we
serve," said Reid Health President/CEO Craig Kinyon. "These achievements are
the result of many hours of hard work and dedication from each member of the
Reid team to fulfill our mission to lead our communities to well-being, one
person at a time."
Reid's achievements are based solely on
what matters most: patient outcomes. As part of its 2025 hospital assessment,
Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more
than 30 of the most common conditions and procedures at some 4,500 hospitals
nationwide to determine the top performers in specialty care.
By offering easy access to objective
performance measures, Healthgrades helps consumers find and select a hospital
that excels in providing the care they need.
As variation in performance among
hospitals continues to grow, it's increasingly important for consumers to seek
care at top-rated programs. Healthgrades' 2025 analysis revealed if all
hospitals as a group performed similarly to five-star hospitals during the
2021-2023 study period, on average, 224,958
lives could potentially have been saved and 141,692 complications could
potentially have been avoided.
"Each of these awards is a reflection of our commitment to delivering exceptional care year after year to those we serve. These achievements are the result of many hours of hard work and dedication from each member of the Reid team to fulfill our mission to lead our communities to well-being, one person at a time." -- Reid Health President/CEO Craig Kinyon
"Healthgrades commends the team at Reid
Health for their clear commitment to delivering consistently superior patient
outcomes in critical service areas," said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer
and Head of Data Science at Healthgrades. "Reid's leadership, expertise, and
unwavering dedication to clinical excellence set a high mark for specialty care
in Indiana and nationwide."
