Jan. 28, 2025 -- Reid Health has been named one of America's 250 Best Hospitals for
2025, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the No. 1 site Americans use when searching for a doctor or
hospital.
The achievement puts the organization
in the top 5% of hospitals nationwide for overall clinical performance for the
second year in a row.
"To fulfill our mission to lead our
communities to well-being, one person at a time requires a team that's driven
to provide the highest quality of care," said Craig Kinyon, Reid Health
President/CEO. "This national recognition reflects what we've long known about
our team's unwavering commitment to exceptional patient care."
According to Healthgrades, America's
250 Best Hospitals is based exclusively on what matters most: patient outcomes.
To determine the top hospitals for 2025, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted
mortality and complication rates for more than 30 of the most common conditions
and procedures at about 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
Healthgrades' annual analysis revealed
significant performance gaps between the nation's highest- and lowest-achieving
hospitals, making it increasingly important to seek care at a top-rated
facility. In fact, from 2021-2023, if all hospitals -- as a group -- had
performed similarly to America's 250 Best, 174,081 lives on average could have
been saved.
"As one of America's 250 Best
Hospitals, Reid Health is elevating the standard for quality care nationwide,"
said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Head of Data Science at
Healthgrades. "Healthgrades commends Reid for their ongoing leadership and
commitment to providing the best possible care for all patients in East Central
Indiana and West Central Ohio."
Healthgrades previously recognized Reid for high-quality care across a
series of specialty services, including an award for America's 100 Best
Hospitals for Pulmonary Care (top 5% nationwide) and Excellence Awards for
stroke care and critical care (top 10%).
Reid also was rated five stars for seven
services, including treatment of:
- Heart attack
- Heart failure
- Stroke
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- Pneumonia
- Gastrointestinal bleed
- Sepsis
In addition to these national
recognitions, Reid was ranked No. 2 in Indiana for both critical care and
pulmonary care.
