Reid Health spinal surgeon reaches 1,000th case milestone

March 15, 2024 -- Hon Vien, DO, Reid Health Orthopedics & Spine, recently reached a spinal surgery milestone with his 1,000^th case using the Mazor X Robotic Guidance System.

"It has been an honor to be able to perform 1,000 Mazor Robotic cases here at Reid. This is a milestone that has been accomplished by just a few surgeons around the world," said Dr. Vien, who has been using the Mazor system since joining Reid in 2015.

The Mazor technology transforms spine surgery from freehand to state-of-the-art procedures, increasing both accuracy and favorable clinical outcomes. The technology has been successfully used in both routine and complex cases in thousands of spinal procedures worldwide.

Using Mazor's intuitive interface, surgeons can plan operations in a virtual 3D environment, creating a surgical blueprint for better accuracy. Mazor is an important tool to help in correcting conditions such as scoliosis, spinal stenosis, spinal fractures, and herniated discs.
