However Dr. Weil explained that if you take blood thinners you should check with your doctor before trying the treatment. The most common side effects are bruising or bleeding at the site where a needle is placed and sometimes minor pain or soreness.
Make sure to choose a certified and qualified acupuncturist Dr. Weil recommended. Currently the licensing requirements vary from state to state but most require that acupuncturists pass an exam given by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Speak with your primary care physician before making any decisions about the treatment.
