Hospice Services
Reid Health Hospice offers compassionate end-of-life care focused on comfort, dignity, and peace for patients and families.
Hospice at Reid Health
Hospice care is designed for patients in the final phase of an incurable illness. The goal is to help each person live as fully and comfortably as possible.
Our hospice team provides medical, emotional, and spiritual support to help patients and families find peace and connection during this time.
We view end-of-life care as part of the natural journey of living and believe with compassionate care, every day can still hold meaning.
When to consider hospice care
You might want to explore hospice care if you or your loved one experiences:
- Frequent hospitalizations or ER visits
- Rapid decline in health, even with ongoing treatments
- Increasing weakness, weight loss, or confusion
- Uncontrolled pain or shortness of breath
- A desire to focus on quality of life, not aggressive treatments
If you’re unsure whether hospice is right for your situation, our team can help you talk through your options and next steps.
Reid Health Hospice services
We provide comprehensive care where you’re most comfortable, whether that’s at home, in a care facility, or in the hospital.
- Medical care: Our Hospice Medical Director oversees every patient’s care plan, working closely with attending providers and staff to ensure comfort, safety, and symptom management.
- Nursing care: Our nurses are available 24/7 to manage pain, monitor changes, and provide comfort and reassurance. You’re never alone. A compassionate nurse is just a phone call away.
- Personal care: Hospice aides assist with daily needs such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, helping patients maintain dignity and comfort. They also communicate closely with the care team about any changes.
- Social work support: Our licensed social workers provide counseling, connect families with resources, and offer emotional guidance through the challenges of serious illness and loss.
- Spiritual support: Chaplains provide faith-based or non-denominational emotional and spiritual care, helping patients and families find comfort, peace, and meaning during life’s final chapter.
- Bereavement counseling: Our bereavement team offers support for loved ones after a loss, including phone calls, mailings, newsletters, and grief support groups for up to a year after passing.
- Volunteer services: Trained volunteers offer companionship, help with errands, or sit with patients so caregivers can take a needed break.
