Blue Brigade adult volunteers make a difference at Reid Health
Volunteers are an essential part of our mission to care for our community. Our Blue Brigade Volunteer Auxiliary welcomes adult volunteers who want to make a meaningful impact by supporting patients, families, and staff. Whether assisting in patient services, administrative tasks, or special programs, adult volunteers help create a welcoming, compassionate environment that enhances the healing experience.
Why join as a Blue Brigade adult volunteer?
Adult volunteers in the Blue Brigade play a key role in making Reid Health a place of comfort and care. Volunteers:
- Support hospital staff and patients with daily activities
- Provide guidance, information, and friendly interactions
- Contribute to community health and well-being
- Serve as ambassadors for Reid Health’s mission of neighbor caring for neighbor
Requirements to volunteer at Reid Health
Blue Brigade volunteers will be placed in positions that best align with their needs, and Reid Health’s. Because of the training provided, we ask that volunteers be able to commit to a six-month assignment. Adult volunteers also must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Complete a volunteer application and background check
- Commit to a regular schedule of volunteer hours
- Complete orientation and role-specific training
Blue Brigade volunteer assignments
Blue Brigade volunteers can choose from a range of meaningful roles, including:
- Clerical support in departments or the information desk
- Community wellness efforts, including educational programs
- Ginkgo Boutique gift shop assistance and mailroom support
- In-home hospice visits and hospice office assistance
- Patient support in rehabilitation, emergency, radiology, heart, cancer, and other services
- Providing supplemental services throughout the hospital
- Bring a special touch, such as playing music or assisting as chaplains/chaplain aides
- Therapy Dogs program support
Each role adds value to the care experience and enhances our mission of leading the community to well-being.
