Pediatric Therapy

Reid Health's pediatric Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists provide a team approach to quality services to help children, infants, and young adults, reach their full potential. We know that a child's team includes their family so we work with parents to create an individualized plan of care for their child. Our expert therapists serve more than 300 families in Wayne and surrounding counties each week.

Our state-of-the-art pediatric rehabilitation suite was recently renovated with a child's needs in mind. At Reid Health, we realize that play is the foundation of learning and we use play to help children and families reach their goals. During therapy you might see a child climb a tree, fish from a suspension bridge, swing, or make musical sounds.

Bringing your child to Physical, Occupational, and/or Speech therapy is a commitment to collaborate with your therapist on your child's plan of care. When enrolled in therapy it is expected that the parent regularly practice the activities in their home program.

Participating in a once weekly therapy appointment is not enough to elicit permanent change, but altering the way that your child completes tasks that occur every day provides your child with the consistency they need to replace inefficient habits. The goal is for the child to become functional within their natural environment, using the supports and adaptations learned in therapy to engage in what they love.

Therapy is intended to be only a part of your child's life journey during times of need. This may mean your child will have periods of multiple therapies, one therapy, or no therapy depending on his or her current priorities.
