Milk Matters Support Group

Find strength in community and confidence in motherhood.

Whether you’re a new breastfeeding mother or an experienced parent, the Milk Matters Support Group provides a welcoming space to share, learn, and connect. Join other lactating parents to exchange experiences, discover local resources, and check your baby’s weight.

Each session is facilitated by a certified lactation specialist who offers guidance, encouragement, and evidence-based breastfeeding support. Infants and older children are always welcome.

Milk Matters is part of Shared Beginnings at Reid Health, a free program for expectant families planning to deliver at the Reid Health Family Birthing Center.

These sessions are designed for support and education and do not replace your relationship with your healthcare provider or a one-on-one consultation with a lactation specialist. Physical evaluations aren’t performed during group meetings.

What you can expect:

  • Receive support and practical advice from a lactation specialist
  • Learn how to overcome breastfeeding challenges and find personalized solutions
  • Share experiences and gain reassurance in a compassionate, mother-to-mother setting
  • Discover opportunities to donate excess breast milk to help other families
  • Build lasting friendships and emotional support networks that promote well-being and longer breastfeeding success

Milk Matters Support Group is for new or experienced breastfeeding mothers. The group and weigh-in for your baby is offered the first Thursday of each month from 10:30–11:30 a.m. in Richmond (location provided after registration).

Registration is required at least two days in advance. Call (765) 935-8805 to register or schedule a free one-on-one appointment with a lactation specialist.
