At Reid Health Neurology, we provide comprehensive care for conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles. Whether you're facing impacts from a stroke, movement disorder, memory challenge, or chronic headache, our neurology team offers expert diagnosis, personalized treatment plans, and compassionate support.

Reid Health Neurology approach to care

We believe in patient-centered care that focuses on you, not just your diagnosis. Our neurologists and neurology care team work together to tailor treatment plans, embrace advanced technologies, and support you every step of the way, from intake to recovery and beyond.

The difference between a neurologist and a neurosurgeon

Although both neurologists and neurosurgeons treat conditions affecting the brain, spine, and nervous system, their approaches differ.

Neurologists diagnose and manage neurological disorders through medications, therapy, and lifestyle care, without surgery.

Neurosurgeons, on the other hand, perform surgical procedures to treat structural problems, such as tumors, aneurysms, or spinal issues.

Together, they provide comprehensive care for complex neurological conditions. If surgery is part of your treatment plan, you’ll be referred to a neurosurgeon by your care team.

Conditions treated by neurology

  • Cerebrovascular disease: Stroke, aneurysms, arteriovenous and cavernous malformations
  • Demyelinating disorders: Multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder
  • Epilepsy and seizures: Focal motor seizures, complex partial, tonic-clonic, myoclonic, atonic seizures
  • Movement disorders: Parkinson’s disease, tremors, cervical and focal dystonia, ataxia, chorea, myoclonus
  • Neurodegenerative and dementia disorders: Alzheimer’s disease, vascular and Lewy-body dementia, Huntington’s disease, aphasia, autoimmune and inflammatory encephalopathies
  • Neuromuscular and peripheral nervous system disorders: Plexopathies, polyneuropathies, mononeuropathies, neuromuscular-junction disorders
