Telehealth Appointments
How Reid Telehealth appointments work
Telehealth at Reid Health is different from a standard virtual visit you might complete from home. Reid Telehealth is designed to bring specialty and follow-up care closer to patients who live farther from the hospital.
Instead of traveling to Richmond or Connersville, patients visit their nearest Reid outreach location for their appointment. There, they receive in-person support from a medical assistant while meeting with their provider through secure video technology.
Like a regular, in-office visit, your provider will review your medical history, discuss any updates to your health, manage any prescription refills, and provide follow-up instructions.
Reid Health specialties offering telehealth appointments:
What you can expect during a telehealth visit
When you arrive at your outreach location, your visit begins much like an in-person appointment:
- A medical assistant checks your vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and weight
- Your medical history and current concerns are reviewed
- Your vitals will be taken as it is during an in-person visit
- You will meet with your provider
You then meet with your provider through a secure, real-time video connection. Your provider can review findings, ask questions, adjust medications, and discuss next steps, just as they would during an in-person visit.
Who might benefit from a telehealth visit?
Reid Telehealth allows patients to receive high-quality follow-up and chronic condition care while staying close to home. This is especially helpful for patients who:
- Have ongoing or chronic conditions
- Need frequent follow-up appointments
- Live farther from the hospital
- Want to reduce travel time, costs, and time away from work or family
By combining in-person clinical support with secure video visits, Reid Telehealth ensures patients receive the care they need, without unnecessary travel.
