Mazor Renaissance® Guidance System

The Mazor Renaissance Guidance System at Reid Health ensures precision and safety in spine surgeries, enabling faster recovery and improved outcomes.

Offering the area's only Mazor spine surgeries

Reid Health Orthopedics & Spine is the only facility in the area to offer minimally invasive spine surgeries using the Mazor Renaissance Guidance System. Our board-certified spine surgeons have unique training in this advanced system, which has helped people throughout East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio find a solution to severe back and spine pain.

What is Mazor Renaissance Guidance System?

This leading-edge system combines high-quality imaging capabilities with robotic arms and specially designed surgical tools that allow spine surgeons to alleviate severe pain with disc replacements, spinal fusion, and other procedures.

Before your procedure, your surgeon might order a CT scan, which the system uses to create a personalized, highly detailed preoperative surgical plan. The system also features Stealth™ Navigation technology, including a navigation camera and imaging, which provides real-time insights throughout your procedure to help ensure precise movements and placement of screws, artificial discs, and other implants.

Throughout the operation, your surgeon controls the robotic arm and tools using the system’s console and adapts as needed to make sure your surgery is as successful as possible.

Benefits of Mazor spine surgeries

Traditional surgical procedures on the spine can be difficult to perform accurately. For example, a surgeon placing screws in the spine is typically 80% to 90% accurate when operating freehand. Surgery with Mazor, however, allows for up to 99% accuracy in screw placement. Not only does this give you better results, but it also leads to less pain.

Additional benefits

Patients who have Mazor spinal surgery often experience:

  • Fewer complications
  • Less soft tissue disruption in the spine, which reduces pain and the need for narcotic pain medications
  • Reduced need for revision surgeries
  • Shorter hospital stays

Minimally invasive spine surgeries can frequently be performed on an outpatient basis, as well, meaning you might be able to go home the same day as your procedure.
