Expert plastic and reconstructive surgery

Plastic surgery is a personal decision — and at Reid Health, we want to make sure you feel informed, confident, and supported based on your own goals. Whether you’re seeking reconstructive or cosmetic surgery, our board-certified surgeons and care team provide support from your first visit through recovery and beyond.

Your consultation

The first step in your plastic surgery journey at Reid Health is a one-on-one consultation with a plastic surgeon. During this appointment, you’ll discuss your personal goals, medical history, and lifestyle. The surgeon will decide if surgery is right for you and explain the possible treatment options.

Many procedures require specific health benchmarks. For example, you must be tobacco-free for at least six weeks before surgery. Smoking can slow healing. Losing weight, if you need to, will also reduce the risk of complications and improve the results of your surgery.

Preparing for surgery

If surgery is a good choice and you decide to go ahead, our care team will schedule your procedure and explain what comes next. This could include:

  • Preoperative lab work or testing
  • Medication adjustments
  • Instructions about eating, drinking, or medication use before surgery

You’ll also receive written materials to help you prepare and a contact number for any questions you might have.

Costs and insurance coverage

Plastic surgery costs can vary based on the procedure, complexity, anesthesia used, and your body type. You’ll receive a cost estimate during your consultation — but keep in mind the final cost could be a little different.

Most cosmetic procedures (for appearance) are not covered by insurance. However, reconstructive surgeries related to trauma, cancer recovery, or congenital issues you were born with may be eligible.

Our financial counselors can help check your insurance, answer questions, and explain payment choices.

Care Credit

Care Credit offers an affordable way to pay for cosmetic surgeries and other health costs. If you qualify, the program gives you a credit card with flexible financing options, so you can receive the procedures or services you need and pay for them over time. Easy, flexible, and accepted at Reid Health.

Surgery and recovery

The length of surgery depends on the type of procedure. Some take under an hour. Others could require more time. You’ll be asleep under anesthesia, and your care team will monitor you closely throughout.

Recovery time varies but typically includes:

  • Rest for several days after surgery
  • Gradual return to activities over two to six weeks
  • Follow-up appointments to monitor healing

Our team will provide detailed recovery instructions and support every step of the way.
