Financial Assistance
Cancer is more than a physical challenge — it can also be a financial one. At Reid Cancer Center, we’re here to help with financial assistance for cancer patients and their families.
Helping you and your family manage the costs of cancer
After a cancer diagnosis, your focus should be on treating the cancer, not on how much it’ll cost you. While that’s our wish for every patient, we know many struggle with the financial impact of cancer.
For people with cancer who don’t have insurance or those with high deductibles, even thinking about the cost of cancer care can be overwhelming. At Reid Cancer Center, we understand — and we’re here to connect you with resources that can help cover the costs.
In some cases, people without insurance coverage might qualify for Medicaid or the Healthy Indiana Plan. Our experienced financial navigators can help you walk through the process of applying for those programs, along with the programs we offer at Reid Health.
At Reid, we know you’re more than your diagnosis. That’s why our mission is to help you through every step of the cancer journey, easing your mind and your path as much as we can.
Cancer treatment and related costs
As you get care, you might have expenses related to treatments you receive, as well as driving to and from appointments, caregiving, and in-home care. At the same time, you might have to take time off work, which could mean losing income.
Because you can access the advanced treatment you need right here in our community, some of these costs, including those tied to the need to travel for care, are limited. When it comes to the other costs, our financial navigators and social workers will work with you to help you find support.
How we can help
Your financial navigator can offer information about applying for insurance coverage, our Patient Assistance Program, and other resources. Through the Reid Patient Assistance Program, we offer financial assistance for those who qualify based on income. We also provide limited financial assistance through our catastrophic assistance program.
Our cancer navigators can help you find free or low-cost resources that can make receiving care easier on your wallet. We connect people to transportation services, so they can attend treatment appointments. We can also help you find medication assistance and caregiver support.
We take your specific needs into consideration at every step of the process. If you need financial support during cancer treatment, for example, our social workers can help you apply for Social Security disability, which will help with your expenses.

Navigating the challenges of cancer care
When you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, you don’t have to walk alone. Our team of cancer navigators can help you at every step of your journey.
Our cancer navigators have years of experience helping patients with different types of cancer and can assist with all aspects of treatment. That includes answering questions you might have about your care plan, accessing support services at Reid Health and in the community, setting up medical appointments and helping you find financial assistance when needed.
