Cancer Survivorship Program
Reid Cancer Center’s Cancer Survivorship Program offers emotional, physical, practical, and spiritual support from the moment of diagnosis through treatment and beyond.
Helping you thrive after cancer
Thanks to early diagnosis and better care, more people with cancer are living longer after treatment ends. Reid Cancer Center’s Cancer Survivorship Program was created to help cancer survivors and their loved ones navigate life after treatment.
Our program allows you to work with your cancer navigator and a dedicated survivorship provider or team to create a personalized plan designed to meet your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Your plan is designed to keep you healthy and well in the years to come.
We understand support after cancer treatment is just as critical as support during treatment. Just as we walked with you and your family members through every step of your cancer journey, the Reid Cancer Center team is here to help you after cancer, too.
Your survivorship plan
Cancer survivorship begins the day of your diagnosis and continues throughout your life. Still, your survivorship planning takes on new importance as soon as you end treatment.
We celebrate this point of every person’s journey. At the end of treatment, our patients ring a bell to mark this special milestone, and they’re joined by their nurses and cancer navigator, who celebrate right alongside them.
From there, we’ll develop a long-term care plan. Each plan includes details about your diagnosis, the treatments and services you received, and long-term side effects you might develop. Your plan will include information about follow-up care — which providers to call when you have concerns and treatments you could need going forward.
Next, you’ll have a visit to verify your scans are clear and schedule your next appointment. This appointment is usually 30 days out, and you’ll continue follow-up visits as often as you’d like. Your survivorship team will also connect you with emotional support, financial support, and any other practical services you might need.

A support system of people who understand
When you have cancer, it can be difficult to relate to friends and loved ones. They might offer sympathy, but they might not truly understand all the physical and emotional challenges you face. That’s why Reid Health offers support groups to help you find the support you need.
Through our cancer support groups, you can build relationships with others who currently have cancer or who are cancer survivors. Family members and other loved ones can also find support and encouragement through these groups, which meet regularly.
A personalized plan
Your cancer survivorship plan will be personalized to your needs and goals after treatment. It can continue for as long as you’d like. We often support people for up to five years after they finish treatment.
Plans might include:
- Common long-term side effects from treatment such as radiation therapy and how to find relief
- Follow-up tests you need, how often to have them, and how to schedule them
- Help finding information about work-related concerns and health insurance
- How to maintain your health, well-being, and quality of life
- Signs and symptoms your cancer might have returned and who to call if you notice changes
Continued Support
A personalized survivorship plan is only one aspect of what’s offered through the Cancer Survivorship Program. We provide cancer survivors and their family members a variety of services and support, including:
- Cancer navigators
- Counseling services
- Educational classes
- Financial counseling
- Integrative medicine, such as fitness programs or yoga
- Nutritional support
- Rehabilitation services
- Wellness programs and screenings to complement your primary care
