Connecting you to personalized care

One of the benefits of having joint replacement surgery close to home is easy access to advanced technologies and providers you know and trust. Thanks to the virtual MyReid Care Companion program, our care is even closer to home and more personalized to your needs.

The MyReid Care Companion is a virtual program designed to guide you through every step of your journey, from the moment you schedule your orthopedic surgery to the first days and weeks of your recovery. Each day, you receive helpful reminders, to-dos, videos, and articles that help ease the stress of surgery. You can also connect with your care team any time with questions and concerns.

How Care Companion works

Once you schedule your joint replacement surgery, you’ll meet with our perioperative care team and meet your joint navigator. If you have a MyChart account, you will automatically be enrolled in Care Companion. If you don’t have an account, we can help you set one up. You’ll need a MyReid account to connect to Care Companion.

Once activated, you can access Care Companion through a web browser on your smartphone, tablet, or computer or through the MyReid app

Empowering your recovery

Recovery doesn’t stop when you leave the hospital. With Care Companion support, we’re here to help you every step of the way. Our dedicated team offers guidance, resources, and encouragement virtually, so you have everything you need for a smooth recovery at home.

In addition, our after-hours postsurgical hotline is available for concerns or questions that might arise during your recovery. You can access expert advice and support about medication, symptom management, or other recovery-related concerns, giving you peace of mind as you heal.

Navigating your procedure with Care Companion

Your care plan is organized as “tasks” you complete at specific points in your journey. Care Companion notifies you each time you have a new task. You can personalize these notifications so they appear when you have time to focus on your health.

Learn about your procedure

You’ll have articles to read or videos to watch that help you understand what to expect. The program also offers helpful advice for preparing your home for recovery after hip replacement, knee replacement, or other orthopedic surgery.

Manage your care

Care Companion can remind you when it’s time for perioperative appointments and how to prepare.

It’ll also recommend steps you can take before surgery to ease your recovery, such as stopping smoking, managing your blood sugar, and eating healthy.

Finally, you can set medication reminders — if necessary — so you know what to take and when.

Connect to your care team

If you have questions, you can send them to your care team through your Care Companion account. Your care team can also track your progress and get in touch if you need help.

Get ahead of problems after surgery

Care Companion sends questionnaires that ask about your symptoms, such as pain and swelling around your incision, to see how you’re doing after surgery. Based on your responses, you might be prompted to call your provider or take other steps.

Care Companion can also alert your care team if you have any concerns or if your symptoms suggest a serious complication.

Follow a guided recovery program

Care Companion reminds you when it’s time to complete your at-home therapy exercises. Step-by-step instructions and pictures guide you through each exercise to help ensure you do it correctly.

The program can also assign tasks, such as taking short walks, which will help keep you moving as you recover.
