Women's Health Day
Health screenings play an important role in keeping you healthy at every age. Get the screenings you need in a single appointment during a Reid Health Women’s Health Day.
A one-stop-shop for essential women’s health screenings
You know it’s important to have routine screenings, but it’s hard to find the time for them — and sometimes even challenging to get them scheduled. We have good news: You can access several essential women’s health screenings all in one appointment on a Women’s Health Day at Reid Health.
We offer these all-in-one appointments for women on the first Thursday of every month. You can schedule a two-hour appointment to get your annual mammogram, a Pap test, and a DEXA bone density screening. Then, you can check them off your to-do list for another year.
Women’s Health Day is part of our commitment to making preventive care easy and convenient for women across East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio.

Comprehensive care for breast health
If you have dense breast tissue or other risk factors for breast cancer, your OB/GYN might recommend other screenings along with your annual mammogram. You can access those screenings right here in our community at the Reid Health Breast Center.
At our Breast Center, we offer screening and diagnostic mammograms using advanced 3D mammography, along with breast ultrasound, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy, and stereotactic breast biopsy.
These tests might be used in addition to a screening mammogram or to determine a diagnosis if an abnormality is detected during a mammogram.
Screenings included
Women need screenings at every age and stage of life. Your provider can recommend the tests you need based on your age and other factors.
At Women’s Health Day, we offer several women’s health screenings:
- DEXA scans: This imaging measures bone density and helps providers diagnose or determine your risk for osteoporosis. Providers generally recommend them for women age 65 and older, but you might benefit if you’re younger and have osteoporosis risk factors. Screening frequency depends on your risk level.
- Mammograms: These special X-rays capture detailed images of the breasts and can detect breast cancer early, when treatments can be more successful. Women at average risk should begin mammograms at age 40.
- Pap tests: During a Pap test, your provider removes small samples of cervical cells and tests them for cervical cancer. You should begin Pap tests at age 21.

3D mammograms at Reid
All mammograms are valuable tools for detecting breast cancer, but we offer advanced 3D digital mammograms, which give greater detail and more clarity than traditional imaging. The technology takes X-rays of your breasts from multiple angles, and a computer compiles those X-rays into 3D images your provider can rotate, sharpen, and magnify, giving them a much more complete view of your breast health.
3D mammograms are considered the gold standard for detecting cancers in women younger than age 50 and those with dense breast tissue. We’ve also invested in innovative color-changing technology that helps you relax during the procedure.
So you never have to wonder
Breast cancer, cervical cancer, and osteoporosis might not cause noticeable symptoms in their early stages, and screenings could be the only tools you can use to find out if you have one of these conditions. Early detection usually means you have more options for treatments and, in the case of osteoporosis, could help you prevent a serious or disabling fracture.
Our goal is to make preventive screenings as easy and convenient as possible. You can work with your Reid primary care provider to learn if you’re at risk for health problems because of your age or family history. If you are, don’t delay scheduling your Women’s Health Day screenings.
