Welcoming the newest members of your family

For generations, families across East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio have trusted the Reid Health Family Birthing Center to welcome their babies into the world.

Our private labor rooms offer a spa-like environment and are fully equipped to help you and your loved ones welcome your new baby in comfort.

We also offer peaceful postpartum rooms with everything you and your support person require as you bond with your new addition.

Designed for comfort during labor and delivery

Our specially trained staff at the Family Birthing Center is dedicated to providing you with the tools and support you need throughout labor and delivery. We can help you have a natural birth, water birth, or cesarean section. Your comfort is our top priority. We offer:

  • Adjustable labor beds that allow you to easily change your position
  • Immersion hydrotherapy for laboring in the water
  • Showers attached to labor rooms
  • Spacious hallways for walking during labor
  • Waterproof portable monitoring to promote movement during labor

Special care for special needs

Our Level I Special Care Nursery is equipped to care for most babies who face problems at birth. For newborns who require ventilator support or neonatal surgery, we arranges transport to a Level III facility for more advanced care after they’ve been stabilized.

Comfortable postpartum care

Our Family Birthing Center is committed to helping new mothers breastfeed and bond with their babies soon after birth.

Two hours after delivery, you’ll be moved to a peaceful postpartum room, which offers a calming environment. Each room provides the comforts of home to give you and your family everything you need during your stay.

Your room will have:

  • A comfortable rocker recliner and a couch that doubles as a bed for your support person
  • A microwave and refrigerator
  • Internet, local phone, and TV
  • Shower and vanity area
  • Wi-Fi

We also promote rooming in to practice feeding and caring for your baby while at the hospital.

Continuing support

Our support doesn’t end after you take your new baby home. We offer many resources, including outpatient lactation support, new mom support groups, and postnatal care.

Your pregnancy navigator, a specially trained nurse who can assist you throughout your pregnancy, will also be available as you transition home with your baby.

Excellence in maternity care

The INspire Hospital of Distinction program, funded by the Indiana Department of Health’s Safety PIN grant, promotes the delivery of best-practice care for moms and babies throughout Indiana and recognizes hospitals for excellence in addressing key drivers of infant and maternal health.

We earned a Category of Excellence recognition based on implementing best practices in six key areas: infant safe sleep, breastfeeding, tobacco prevention and cessation, perinatal substance use, obstetric hemorrhage, and maternal hypertension.
